The Whole City was ecstatic when over 1.2 Million People flocked to the streets with Futuristic Lights and an Electrifying Dance as the City showcased their smiles, masks, floats – all with one purpose – to celebrate the Masskara Festival in Bacolod City.

Bacolod City celebrates the 32nd Maskara Festival in 2011 which drew people from all over the region and the entire globe. Architect Ian Jay Bantilan commented that in my years here in Bacolod, I have never seen so many foreigners flood the Hotels and Streets at any time,” he said. “This is the most gigantic Celebration I have ever witnessed.”

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, at the forefront of the Celebrations claimed that “because of the Masskara Festival, the whole world now knows about Bacolod.” He also addressed the Festival at the closing night on the Public Plaza.

A resident of Bacolod added: “Lately, people have been expecting the Masskara Celebration.” Because the world is all the more connected, tourists from all over the US, Europe, Australia and Asia came over to celebrate in the City.”

The Mayor prepared for the Festival in Advance. “We need to have an early preparation so that we can involve more people. We cannot do away with MassKara, as MassKara is part of us and part of the system of Bacolod,” he said. “Every time we have MassKara, it invigorates us to even do better to move the city forward. We look forward that next year, there will be more people involved, more events and even more flights.” Even the tourists were perplexed with the enthusiasm of how the dancers burned down the city.
